MLA 255: Polish Culture through Film*
Taught by Professor Piotr Wilczek, Visiting Polish Scholar
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2:50 pm | 4 credits | Spring semester 2012 (Course begins January 17)
This course uses Polish films to focus on cultural issues that are central to the Polish national identity and culture. The course combines four weeks of in-class lecture with the visiting Polish scholar, Professor Wilczek, with the remainder of the courses taught on-line by Professor Wilczek. Students will be expected to view the films outside of class, followed by on-line discussions and assignments. This course is designated as a GenEd course for Arts and Humanities.
*This is a hybrid class, which consists of four weeks of in classroom instruction on campus. Piotr Wilczek (Polish scholar’s residency at CSU) will teach the remainder of the class online through Blackboard. Students will be responsible for watching the assigned films on their own and then contributing to an online discussion.
